Watching CC crash into the opposing player and bouncing off of her, then falling to the floor reminds me of a time when my family and I had gone into the FAO Schwartz toy store in Seattle. As I was about to go downstairs, I bumped into a very tall woman who had just come up the stairs. We bumped into each other, and grinned as we said “Excuse me.” But when we bumped, I bounced right off of that woman as if I had dashed myself against a wall! I’m also tall, and was was very strong at that time, but holy moly she was unbelievably strong. As I gathered up my family, a person who had seen that big bump came up to me and asked if I knew who she was, which I didn’t know. It turned out that she had been on that year’s Women’s Basketball Olympic team! While I won’t forget that bump, I have forgotten what her name was. And now I wonder what she thinks of this terribly unprofessional behavior in the WNBA, a league that I’m sure she would have loved to have been a part of, had that been available to her then.
